The academy was the result of a long accumulation of artistic knowledge of the western Masters, and reached its highest peak under the patronage of the Monarchies. Later, as the political and financial movements (anti-monarch) gained territory the academy was attacked by the 'modern' vanguard made up by painters who had been denied an entrance to the academy and they were lacking the talent and patience the Academy praised. Political ideas that desired the weakening of the European courts, began spreading the
new artistic theories, going against the established norms. Impressionism or other degenerated styles are not French—this is an error. Since antiquity certain individuals have gone against all the established—but never to such a scale! An example of one of these painters was the Netherlandish painter Hieronymus Bosch (1450-1516) who may be called a semi-surrealist with his chaotic paintings and alla prima technique. The English Joseph Turner (1775-1851) could also be a sloppy early-impressionist for his brushstrokes
and colors are in many of his paintings far too 'modern'. (I say sloppy for black was present in a few of his works and black did not exist to the impressionist.) Even his subjects like "The burnings of the houses of parliament " betray his tendencies. In fact, his paintings were very important for the development of the impressionist. France was the center for the arts in those times and if the revolution in paintings was to happen it would not be in some remote and unknown city, it would take place
in Paris. This country was remembered as the most classical, how then could it produce such painters as Monet or Renoir? Clearly it had been invaded by disastrous concepts of art such as ''pure pigment" or "free art". When an amateur art critic calls Picasso a modern painter, there is no sense in it for his paintings are a century old. Must art keep on degenerating before our eyes? Why do talented painters produce such pitiful panels that have the appearance a three-year old scribble? The answer
is as clear as spring water, they are ignorant of the one word that can change it all, BEAUTY. Art has to be beautiful otherwise it is not art. Artists don't need to fill
the world with badly-painted canvases, painting like machines thinking 'time is money'... a stunning work of art is worth more than all the salons of Picasso or Dali. Don't painters know that?
